At Ride Engine we are wakeboarders. From the first HO Shapiro Pro to the Neptune Impala, the first wakeboard tower to the world of flex and the cable revolution, the individuals that make up Ride Engine have been a part from day 1. Wakeboading is in our in our blood and we’re stoked to work with such a progressive group of riders to bring fresh new ideas, products and perspective to the sport. Wakeboarding has lacked a dedicated neoprene brand for years. Surf brands have historically dabbled when tides are high and abandoned ship when tides are low. We created Ride Engine to fill this void in our sport at a time when we are prouder than ever to say we are wakeboarders.
The Current State:
Currently we see wakeboarding in the midst of an identity crisis as it transitions from the boats and lakes of North America to cables and kickers / rails / multi level pools across the world. Wakeboarding was born behind boats and we have huge respect for the pioneering athletes and brands who have worked for decades to build wakeboarding into what it is today, and we are even more excited for the future of the sport as the shift towards cables and park riding is right in line with our environmental ideals. Cable systems can pull 6 – 8 riders at once providing an exponential amount of entertainment and water time while consuming the smallest fraction of the amount of energy as compared to a towboat. In some regions of the world the power that these cables are consuming to entertain is put onto the grid through use of windmills and solar panels, which is even more exciting. It’s an amazing time to be entering into the sport as the long-term growth potential for new parks, participants, and locations has become monumental.
In years past, Orlando, Florida was the place to base yourself if you wanted the chance to breakout in the sport, but in 2015 – 2016 the best riders in the world have made their way to the stage from locations all around the globe. Europe, Asia and Australia are home to several of the top athletes in the sport, and more parks are emerging everyday…Athletes today are traveling the world and spending months at a time in different countries, riding the parks and exploring the local cultures. Wakeboarding is officially a global action sport in 2016 with an estimated 625 parks in over 50 countries worldwide. The riding conditions are constantly changing through the seasons for the majority of these parks and with that comes the need for products like ours, designed to extend the seasons and protected riders from the elements. At Ride Engine we make a simple promise: Our dedication and passion for the sport of wakeboarding runs deep, and through tides both high and low you will find us striving to make the best products available for wakeboarders around the globe…Why? Because we love it…
